COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering course provides a comprehensive foundation in the theory, design, and application of electronic systems, preparing students for a dynamic and evolving industry. In the first year, students build essential knowledge in digital and programmable systems, electrical and electronic systems, and fundamental engineering science, while developing skills in engineering analysis, practice, and sustainable design. The second year introduces more advanced topics, including software development, signals and systems analysis, digital and electronic systems, alongside project work that fosters problem-solving, teamwork, and practical application of theoretical knowledge. Optional modules such as robotics and data communications with IoT allow students to explore emerging technologies and expand their technical expertise. In the final year, the course emphasizes integration of knowledge and advanced practice, with modules in microcontroller systems, machine intelligence, computer-aided instrumentation, and imaging and vision systems, culminating in a substantial engineering project with a sustainability focus. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on laboratory experience and develop professional skills, including project management, analytical thinking, and communication, ensuring they can apply technical knowledge to real-world challenges. Graduates emerge with the competence and confidence to pursue careers in electronics design, embedded systems, automation, telecommunications, and related engineering fields, or to continue into specialized postgraduate study.
