COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering program provides a thorough understanding of the principles, practices, and technologies involved in the design, construction, and management of civil infrastructure. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Civil Engineering Design and Sustainable Practice, Civil Engineering Structures, Engineering Geology and Surveying, Engineering Analysis, Engineering Practice, and Fundamentals of Engineering Science, which introduce core engineering concepts, analytical techniques, and practical skills. Year 2 develops technical and professional expertise with modules including Management and Project Planning, Structural Elements Design, Civil Engineering Professional Skills, Civil Engineering Analysis, Soil Mechanics, and Hydraulic Engineering and Materials, allowing students to explore structural design, materials behavior, geotechnics, and project management in more depth. In Year 3, the focus shifts to advanced engineering practice, innovation, and independent research through modules such as Project Management and BIM, Structural Engineering, Engineering Design Project, Civil Engineering Dissertation, Geotechnical and Materials Engineering, and Environmental Engineering and Technologies. Students gain hands-on experience applying engineering principles to real-world problems, integrating sustainability, technology, and design considerations into their work. The program emphasizes analytical thinking, problem-solving, and professional competence, preparing graduates for careers in civil engineering consultancy, construction, project management, and infrastructure development, or for further postgraduate study, with the skills and knowledge to address complex engineering challenges and contribute to sustainable infrastructure solutions.
