COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Illustration course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of illustration, design, and visual storytelling through a blend of creative practice and professional development. In the first year, students explore the fundamentals of design through modules such as Design Context 1, Creative Thinking, Communication Craft Skills, and Introduction to Graphic Communication, which build a strong foundation in conceptual and technical illustration. The second year focuses on applying these skills in professional and contextual settings, with modules like Design Context 2, Professional Practice, Graphic Communication in Context, and Applied Illustration, allowing students to develop their personal style while understanding the industry landscape. In the final year, students refine their creative identity and professional readiness through Design Context 3 and three major projects: the Illustration Set Project, Self-Initiated Illustration Project, and External Illustration Project. These projects encourage independence, innovation, and collaboration with real-world clients, showcasing each student’s artistic vision and professional capability. The course emphasizes both traditional and digital illustration techniques, preparing graduates to succeed in various creative careers such as editorial illustration, advertising, publishing, and design. By graduation, students possess a strong portfolio and the confidence to navigate the evolving demands of the creative industries.
