COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design course offers a comprehensive and immersive journey into the world of fashion, combining creativity, technical skills, and industry insight. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Critical Studies in Fashion and Textiles 1, Fashion Design I and II, and Fashion Communication and Presentation Methods. These modules develop essential design, research, and communication skills while encouraging creative exploration. In the second year, the focus shifts toward preparation for the fashion industry with modules including Preparation for Industry, Fashion Design III and IV, and Outerwear Design and Creation. Students refine their technical abilities, experiment with innovative design approaches, and engage with optional modules such as Critical Studies in Fashion and Textiles 2 and Developing Business Plans, allowing for personalisation and broader understanding of fashion contexts. In the final year, students consolidate their learning with advanced design projects, including Fashion Design IV, Fashion Collection, and Experimental Silhouette Investigation, giving them the opportunity to showcase their creativity and professional standards. Optional modules like Critical Studies in Fashion and Textiles 3 and the Business Enterprise Project provide opportunities for academic and entrepreneurial development. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience, industry knowledge, and creative confidence, equipping them to pursue careers as professional designers, innovators, and entrepreneurs in diverse sectors of the global fashion industry.
