COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Acting program offers a progressive three-year curriculum designed to develop students’ technical skills, creativity, and professional readiness as contemporary actors. In the first year, Acting Fundamentals introduces students to essential practices in movement, voice, and text, providing a strong foundation for performance. This includes improvisation, expressivity, and specialist techniques such as Meyerhold’s Biomechanics, yoga, the Alexander Technique, Animal Studies, and Clowning, alongside voice training informed by Cicely Berry and Patsy Rodenburg and exploration of Stanislavski’s methods and Shakespearean performance. In the second year, students advance their skills through modules including Acting for Theatre 1, The Expressive Actor, and The Contemporary Actor, focusing on performance for theatre, enhancing expressive capabilities, and exploring modern acting styles and approaches. The third year emphasizes professional development and creative autonomy through Acting for Theatre 2, The Actor as Creator, and The Professional Actor, where students consolidate their learning, engage in advanced performance projects, and prepare for careers in stage, screen, and other performance platforms. Across all three years, students gain practical experience in public performances, develop showreels, and build a professional portfolio, ensuring they graduate with the technical expertise, creative skills, and professional confidence required to succeed in the competitive acting industry.
