COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Forensic Psychology program provides a thorough grounding in both the theoretical and practical aspects of forensic psychology, preparing students for professional practice and research in the field. The curriculum covers core areas such as advanced research methods and statistics, equipping students with the skills to design, conduct, and interpret rigorous psychological research. Students develop expertise in psychological measurement and modelling, gaining the ability to apply quantitative and qualitative approaches to understand behaviour. Modules in the psychology of law and justice, and the psychology of criminal conduct, explore the cognitive, social, and environmental factors that influence offending, offering insight into why individuals commit crimes and how the criminal justice system responds. Forensic cognition is studied in depth, linking theory, research, and applied practice to understand decision-making, memory, and reasoning in offender populations. The course also addresses assessment and treatment of offending behaviour in forensic settings, teaching evidence-based strategies for intervention and risk management. Students further develop professional research skills and undertake a dissertation, allowing them to apply their knowledge to an original research project. Overall, the program equips graduates with the analytical, practical, and professional skills required to pursue careers in forensic psychology, criminal justice, or further academic research.
