COURSE CURRICULUM

The postgraduate Economics program at Kent provides a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical and applied economics, equipping students with the skills to tackle complex economic issues in a variety of contexts. Core modules cover microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometric methods, giving students the quantitative and analytical tools required to assess economic trends, test hypotheses, and inform policy decisions. Research skills are developed through dedicated training for the economics dissertation, culminating in an independent research project that allows students to explore topics of particular interest, including the option to conduct field-based research in Bangladesh. Optional modules enable students to tailor their studies to specific areas, such as international economics, international finance, sustainable economic growth and environmental valuation, money and credit, development economics, and financial economics. This flexibility allows students to build expertise in areas relevant to their career aspirations, whether in policy analysis, financial institutions, international organisations, or research. The combination of rigorous core training, practical research experience, and specialised optional modules ensures that graduates are well-prepared for professional roles requiring strong analytical capabilities, economic insight, and the ability to apply quantitative methods to real-world problems.
