COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master’s program in Developmental Psychology and Developmental Psychopathology at Kent provides students with comprehensive training in research methods, theoretical approaches, and practical applications relevant to human development and psychological difficulties across the lifespan. Compulsory modules such as Advanced Research Methods and Statistics, Professional Research Skills for Psychologists, and the Psychology Research Project equip students with the skills to design, conduct, and analyse empirical research. Current Topics in Developmental Psychology and Current Topics in Developmental Psychopathology provide an in-depth understanding of typical and atypical developmental processes, while Developmental and Educational Psychology in Professional Practice bridges theory and applied work, preparing students for professional roles in educational, clinical, and research settings. Optional modules, including Advanced Cognitive Neuroscience Methods in Practice, Mind, Brain and the Body, Psychological Measurement and Modelling, and Current Issues in Cognitive Psychology and Neuropsychology, allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests, such as cognitive development, neuropsychology, or advanced measurement techniques. The program fosters critical thinking, analytical skills, and evidence-based practice, enabling graduates to contribute effectively in roles supporting mental health, educational development, and research, or to continue onto doctoral study. By combining rigorous academic training with applied experience, the course prepares students to address complex developmental and psychological challenges with expertise and confidence.
