COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cognitive Psychology and Neuropsychology MSc at Kent equips students with advanced knowledge and research skills to investigate how the mind and brain function in health, development, and disease. Core modules focus on professional research skills, advanced research methods and statistics, and cognitive neuroscience techniques in practice, enabling students to design, conduct, and analyse complex research projects. The psychology research dissertation allows students to pursue independent, supervised investigations into contemporary questions in cognition and neuropsychology, fostering critical thinking and methodological expertise. Students also engage with current issues in the field, examining cutting-edge debates and developments that inform both academic and applied practice. Optional modules provide opportunities to specialise in areas such as psychological measurement and modelling, the neuropsychology of ageing, developmental and educational psychology in professional contexts, understanding children and adolescents with additional needs, and the interactions between mind, brain, and body. Through this combination of compulsory and optional study, students gain a comprehensive understanding of cognitive processes, brain function, and psychological assessment. Graduates are prepared for PhD-level research, academic careers, or professional roles in clinical, cognitive, or neuropsychology, developing the skills needed to contribute to scientific knowledge and applied practice in cognitive and neuropsychological contexts.
