COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law program at Kent provides a comprehensive and critically engaged study of law across three years, combining foundational knowledge with opportunities for specialization and practical experience. In the first year, students build essential skills through compulsory modules in institutions of justice, public law, contract law, criminal law, and legal theories, while also developing analytical and argumentation abilities valued by employers. The second year expands into property law, tort law, equity and trusts, and EU law, complemented by a wide range of optional modules covering international law, environmental law, labour law, policing, medical ethics, dispute resolution, and forensic evidence, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. In the final year, students consolidate their learning with advanced and specialized modules including human rights, international humanitarian law, banking law, the law of evidence, privacy and cyber law, comparative law, and clinical options that provide hands-on legal practice. Additional modules explore intersections of law with morality, social change, politics, and technology, addressing contemporary challenges such as race, gender, and corporate accountability. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, research, and professional skills, including practical lawyering and advocacy. By integrating rigorous academic study with applied experience, the degree equips graduates to succeed in the legal profession or pursue diverse careers requiring analytical, ethical, and problem-solving expertise.
