COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Law and Politics degree at Kent provides a comprehensive study of law and political systems, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare students for careers in law, politics, and related fields. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules in institutions of justice, public law, contract law, criminal law, critical introduction to law, and the power of political ideas, building essential analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The second year deepens this foundation with compulsory modules in property law, equity and trusts, EU law, and global governance of peace and security, while optional modules allow students to explore areas such as international law, labour law, jurisprudence, criminal forensic evidence, and a broad range of political topics including climate politics, democracy, global economy, and foreign policy. In the final year, compulsory study in tort law and negotiation is complemented by optional modules covering advanced legal topics, human rights, international economic law, cyber law, law and social change, and specialized political studies including contemporary political theory, Middle East politics, security challenges in the Indo-Pacific, and identity politics. Throughout the program, students gain practical experience and develop research, analytical, and professional skills. The combination of law and politics equips graduates to engage critically with legal and political issues and pursue careers in law, government, international organizations, policy, or public service.
