COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Law and Criminology degree at Kent provides a comprehensive and integrated study of law and criminal justice across three years, combining core legal knowledge with criminological insight. In the first year, students build foundational understanding through modules in institutions of justice, public law, contract law, criminal law, critical introduction to law, and theories of crime and harm, developing essential analytical and problem-solving skills. The second year expands this foundation with compulsory study in property law, equity and trusts, EU law, contemporary issues in criminology, and inequality, crime, and justice, while optional modules allow exploration of areas such as labour law, jurisprudence, criminal forensic evidence, policing, prisons, and the psychology of criminal justice. This enables students to connect legal theory with real-world criminal justice practice. In the final year, compulsory study in tort law is complemented by a wide range of optional modules covering advanced legal topics, human rights, international law, law of evidence, cyber law, social and criminal justice practice, offender rehabilitation, youth justice, and issues in criminology, allowing students to tailor their studies to specific interests. The program combines rigorous academic study with practical skills development, equipping graduates with the legal knowledge, criminological understanding, and professional expertise necessary for careers in law, criminal justice, policy, and related fields.
