COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA in Psychology at Kent provides a comprehensive exploration of human thought, behaviour, and emotion, equipping students with the skills to pursue careers across psychology, business, social work, and related fields. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as research methods in science and psychology, biological and cognitive psychology, data analysis, and understanding people and groups. These early studies focus on building analytical, critical thinking, and practical skills that underpin the scientific study of human behaviour. In the second year, students deepen their understanding with developmental psychology, brain and cognition, personality and social psychology, and topics in business psychology, allowing them to explore applied and theoretical perspectives while addressing complex questions about human behaviour. The final year emphasizes practical experience and application, including modules on using practical psychology, business psychology projects, and business psychology in practice, enabling students to apply their learning to real-world contexts. Optional modules such as cognition in action, study design, neuroscience of cognitive disorders, the science of imagination, evolution and human nature, and advanced developmental psychology provide opportunities to specialise and broaden expertise. Across all three years, the course combines rigorous scientific study with practical application, preparing graduates to understand, analyse, and positively impact human behaviour in a wide range of professional contexts.
