COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Economics and Management program at Kent combines the study of economic theory with practical business and management skills, preparing students to understand and navigate complex organisational and economic environments. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematics for economics, statistics, introduction to management, and financial accounting, developing analytical and quantitative skills valued by employers. The second year deepens this knowledge with compulsory modules in macroeconomics, microeconomics for finance and management, business ethics and sustainability, and operations management, while optional modules allow students to explore mathematical economics, enterprise and entrepreneurship, behavioural economics, historical economic development, and workplace skills, equipping them to tackle real-world challenges. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics including business strategy, advanced macroeconomics, and econometrics, while optional modules offer specialisation in areas such as financial economics, monetary economics, international economics, environmental economics, corporate social responsibility, people operations, and research through a dissertation project. Throughout the degree, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, data analysis, and leadership skills, learning to integrate economic insight with business strategy. Graduates leave with a comprehensive understanding of economic processes and management practices, well-prepared for careers in finance, consultancy, business management, policy analysis, and other sectors requiring strong analytical and organisational expertise.
