COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Computer Science (Cyber Security) program at Kent provides a thorough education in computer science with a specialised focus on protecting digital systems and data. In the first year, students gain foundational skills in programming, internet technologies, human-computer interaction, computing fundamentals, and computer systems, equipping them with the technical knowledge required for advanced study. The second year builds on this foundation with compulsory modules in algorithms, database systems, web development, software development, and the fundamentals of cyber security, while optional modules such as fundamentals of AI and functional programming allow students to develop in-demand skills and explore emerging areas. In the final year, students undertake a cyber security project and study blockchain and distributed systems, information security management, and formal methods for security analysis, providing practical experience and expertise in advanced security concepts. Optional modules offer opportunities to specialise in topics including natural language processing, deep learning, quantum computing, creative AI, data mining, computing in the classroom, enterprise, and the Internet of Things, enabling students to tailor their studies to personal interests and career ambitions. Throughout the program, students develop problem-solving, analytical, and technical skills highly valued by employers.
