COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Artificial Intelligence program at Kent provides a comprehensive education in AI, combining core computer science knowledge with specialised study in machine learning and intelligent systems. In the first year, students build foundational skills in programming, internet technologies, human-computer interaction, computing fundamentals, and computer systems, establishing the technical base required for advanced study. The second year develops these skills through compulsory modules in algorithms, database systems, fundamentals of AI, web development, and software development, while optional modules such as cyber security and functional programming allow students to explore in-demand areas and tailor their learning. In the final year, students focus on machine learning algorithms, complete a group project, and undertake a research project to apply their knowledge in practical and investigative contexts. A wide range of optional modules provides opportunities to specialise in cutting-edge topics including natural computation, blockchain and distributed systems, information security, software engineering, video games development, cognitive robotics, eHealth, natural language processing, deep learning, quantum computing, embedded systems, and data analysis. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills highly valued by employers, gaining hands-on experience with real-world applications.
