COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering program at Kent provides students with a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of electrical and electronic engineering, preparing them for careers in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. In the first year, students develop essential skills in mathematics for engineering, electronics, programming, and engineering materials, while gaining hands-on experience through design and manufacturing projects and electronic circuits. Year two builds on this foundation with modules in mechatronics, microcomputer technology, power electronics, electrical machines, and signal processing and control systems, alongside collaborative engineering team projects that enhance problem-solving and teamwork skills. In the final year, students engage in a research project, deepening their independent investigative abilities, while also studying digital system design, power transmission and distribution, and renewable energy technology, equipping them to contribute to sustainable energy solutions. Optional modules, including image analysis and applications, embedded systems and IoT, fundamentals of cyber security, and electronics and digital IC design, allow students to tailor their learning to personal interests and emerging industry needs. Across the program, students gain the technical expertise, analytical skills, and practical experience required to excel in engineering roles, renewable energy, electronics, telecommunications, or pursue further study in specialist areas, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation.
