COURSE CURRICULUM

This course offers a comprehensive set of modules designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in civil engineering, focusing on sustainability, risk management, water resources, and advanced materials. The compulsory "Individual Research Project" allows students to demonstrate independent thinking and apply research methodologies to solve complex engineering problems. The "Research, Planning and Communication" module helps students develop research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate their findings effectively. The "Academic English for Postgraduates (Engineering)" module supports international students in mastering academic writing and communication in English. Students are required to choose 105 credits from a range of specialized options, such as "Principles of Management for Civil Engineering," which focuses on management principles, construction management, and financial analysis, and "Analysis and Management of Risk in Civil Engineering," which teaches risk assessment models and decision-making strategies. "Hydrosystems Engineering and Management" covers water resources engineering, while "Advanced Materials Engineering for Construction" delves into materials science and their applications in construction. "Sustainability for Engineers" integrates sustainability principles into engineering practices, and "Information Technologies for Environmental Engineering" provides knowledge on IT applications for sustainable engineering. Other options include "Waste Management and Remediation Technology," "Contaminant Hydrogeology & Groundwater Remediation," and "Water and Wastewater Engineering," which focus on environmental engineering, water treatment, and remediation techniques. "Advanced Geotechnical Engineering" further develops skills in soil behavior, geotechnical analysis, and design.
