COURSE CURRICULUM

The course consists of a diverse range of modules aimed at developing both practical and theoretical knowledge in the built environment and project management fields. The Applied Project Management module (15 credits) focuses on the use of project management tools and techniques throughout a project’s lifecycle. The Construction Project Management module (15 credits) emphasizes management theories, principles, and essential soft skills required by project and construction managers in various situations. The Sustainable and Healthy Buildings module (15 credits) addresses sustainability and health considerations in building design and their implications for professionals in the built environment. The MSc Dissertation (Built Environment) (60 credits) provides an opportunity for students to carry out in-depth research in an area of interest, promoting critical analysis and the ability to manage and present findings effectively. The Development Economics and Planning module (15 credits) explores the challenges that arise when development pressures conflict with the goals of sustainable development. Property Asset Management (15 credits) develops an understanding of property asset decision-making, value improvement, and portfolio theory. Risk Management (15 credits) focuses on the theory and practice of risk assessment and management within project contexts. Real Estate Development & Investment (15 credits) examines real estate development techniques, investment appraisal methods, and their application in a market economy. The Research Methods module (15 credits) introduces students to various research methodologies, data collection techniques, and critical thinking strategies to enhance their ability to approach their dissertation with appropriate strategies. These modules together provide a comprehensive foundation in managing projects, real estate, and sustainable development within the built environment.
