COURSE CURRICULUM

This course offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to the study of natural resources, agricultural development, and environmental management. It includes core modules focused on research methods and a long research project, providing students with the opportunity to conduct independent research and contribute meaningfully to the field. In addition to these compulsory modules, students must select 45 credits from a wide variety of optional modules, which are grouped into option sets to offer flexibility. These option sets allow students to specialize in areas such as integrated pest management, agronomy, conservation ecology, environmental footprinting, and agricultural innovation. By choosing from these options, students can tailor their studies to their personal and professional interests, covering topics like plant disease management, responsible business practices in natural resource management, and postharvest technology.Further modules address pressing global challenges like climate change, food security, and sustainable development, providing students with strategies to adapt to environmental changes. Practical skills are emphasized through modules like GIS for natural resource management and studies in soils and environments, equipping students with the tools to address real-world challenges. Additionally, the course includes a Negotiated Learning Module, where students work with academic tutors to design a personalized learning plan, fostering independent learning and growth.Option Set 2 offers a selection of specialized modules that equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in natural resources and food systems. Among the available options, modules such as "Food Safety and Quality Management" (30 credits) and "Food Marketing" (15 credits) help students understand critical aspects of food safety, production, and market dynamics. Other modules like "Alternative Proteins" (15 credits) and "Applied Food Science and Innovation" (15 credits) explore sustainable food production and innovation. With a combination of research skills, practical application, and specialized options, this program prepares students for a wide range of professional roles in environmental and agricultural fields.
