COURSE CURRICULUM

This global health course provides students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills essential for leadership and management roles in global health. It includes a set of compulsory modules totaling 120 credits, along with one optional module worth 15 credits. The course begins with Management, Leadership and Enterprise in Global Health, which explores how managers function within different political, cultural, and organizational settings, with a focus on change management and social innovation. Applying Management Concepts and Theories in Global Health introduces key management tools and theories to evaluate organizational strategies. Project Management in Global Health covers essential project planning and delivery techniques relevant to health initiatives. The Health Economics module focuses on resource allocation, economic evaluation, and prioritization in healthcare systems. Contemporary Issues in Global Health addresses global public health challenges, governance, and the role of various stakeholders. Health Systems in a Global Context provides insights into the structure and functioning of health systems across different income settings, emphasizing issues like disease burden and equity. Public Health, Policy and Politics examines how policies are developed and implemented, highlighting the interaction between politics and public health. A major component of the course is the Dissertation, a 60-credit independent research project that supports the development of critical thinking, research, and analytical skills. For the optional module, students choose between Health Needs Assessment, which focuses on identifying health priorities and addressing inequalities through informed resource planning, and Applied Epidemiology and Statistics in the Global Context, which teaches the use of epidemiological methods and data analysis in public health. Together, these modules prepare students to understand complex global health systems and effectively contribute to improving health outcomes at local, national, and global levels.
