All students undertake core modules that cover essential academic English skills for science postgraduates, research methods, food product and process development, and a comprehensive 60-credit Research Project. Option Set 1 allows students to personalize their learning with 45 credits of electives, offering wide-ranging choices including climate change, alternative proteins, food microbiology, food preservation, authenticity and traceability, food packaging, and marketing. Option Set 2 provides a more structured route, requiring students to complete specific core modules while selecting 15 credits from a focused list and an additional 30 credits from broader options. This structure enables a balanced approach between guided learning and self-directed specialization. Notably, Option Set 2 includes the Postgraduate Negotiated Learning Module, where students, with academic supervision, create a customized study plan tailored to their career or academic goals. Option Set 3 combines foundational modules in scientific communication, product innovation, and branding with two tiers of elective choices—15 and 30 credits respectively. It also offers the Negotiated Learning Module, giving students the opportunity to direct their learning based on specific interests.
