The Electrical and Mechanical Engineering degree offers a well-rounded foundation in core engineering principles, professional skills, and emerging technologies, preparing students for modern industry challenges and innovation.In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge across mathematics, electrical and electronic systems, programming, and mechanical principles. Modules such as Fundamentals of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Technology Mathematics, and Electromechanical Principles introduce students to circuit theory, computing, and electromechanical systems. Students also explore dynamics and thermodynamics through the Introduction to Machines, Machine Elements and Engines module and develop essential academic and professional communication skills in Engineering Principles and Engineering Professional Skills 1.Year 2 deepens technical proficiency with Digital Electronic Systems, Control Engineering, and Thermo-fluid Applications. Students are introduced to modern industrial concerns through modules such as Introduction to Electric Propulsion Systems—reflecting the shift toward sustainable automotive technologies—and Introduction to Manufacturing Systems. The Multiple Technology Projects module encourages independent, hands-on engineering problem-solving. Further mathematical development is provided through Mathematics for Engineering Systems.In Year 3, the program advances into specialised areas like Power Engineering, Control and Mechatronics, and Manufacturing Systems. Industry 4.0 Technologies introduces students to key innovations such as IoT, AI, cloud computing, and automation. The Group Design and Project Management module simulates real-world engineering projects, fostering teamwork, sustainability awareness, and practical design experience. The Final Year Project provides an opportunity for in-depth, independent research in a chosen area, cultivating critical analysis, technical communication, and project management skills. Engineering Professional Practice equips students with the industry and ethical standards needed for professional registration and career readiness.Throughout the course, students develop strong analytical, problem-solving, and design abilities with a blend of theoretical learning and hands-on experience, preparing them for careers in engineering sectors such as energy, transport, automation, and manufacturing.
