COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Psychology program spans three years, with each year offering a combination of compulsory and optional modules designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of psychology and its applications. In Year 1, students focus on core areas such as Research Methods in Psychology, which introduces scientific enquiry and data analysis, using statistical software like IBM SPSS. Modules like Introduction to Psychology and Introduction to Applied Psychology lay the foundation for understanding key psychological concepts and their practical applications in the real world. Additionally, the Psychology of Resilience and Success and Academic Skills for Psychology modules aim to enhance personal development and academic skills, preparing students for future academic challenges. In Year 2, students explore more specialized topics, including Cognitive Psychology & Neuroscience, Brain and Behaviour, Psychopathology and Clinical Psychology, and Personality and Individual Differences. This year also develops research skills with modules like Psychological Research Methods and Research Statistics for Psychology. Year 3 culminates with the BSc Psychology Project, where students conduct independent research, and the Psychology and Graduate Career Development module, which focuses on career preparation and postgraduate opportunities. Students can also select from a range of specialized optional modules such as Advanced Social Psychology, Child Psychology and Education, Applied Positive Psychology, and Investigative Forensic Psychology. These options allow students to tailor their education to specific interests, whether in clinical, developmental, social, forensic, or health psychology. Overall, the program combines theoretical learning with practical applications, ensuring that students are well-equipped for careers in psychology, counselling, research, or further academic study.
