COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science with Cybersecurity and Forensics degree provides a comprehensive foundation in core computing principles while offering specialized knowledge in digital forensics and cybersecurity. In the first year, students develop essential skills in programming through exposure to different paradigms, gain an understanding of computer systems and communication networks, and build foundational knowledge in algorithms, data structures, compiler theory, and software engineering. Mathematical modules equip students with the tools needed for logical reasoning and problem-solving in computing contexts. The second year expands on these fundamentals, advancing programming abilities and deepening theoretical understanding through modules in operating systems, computer networks, and advanced algorithms. At the same time, students are introduced to key cybersecurity and digital forensics concepts, including the analysis and preservation of digital evidence, information security practices, and applied cryptography. A significant component also focuses on computational methods and numerical techniques, enhancing students' abilities to model and solve complex computing problems. In the final year, students undertake a substantial individual project, allowing them to apply the skills they have developed to real-world scenarios. Specialized modules in penetration testing, advanced computer forensics, and network security provide hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and techniques, preparing students to assess and respond to security vulnerabilities. Coding and cryptography introduces the mathematical foundations behind secure communication, further reinforcing the technical depth of the program. Overall, this degree equips students with a solid grounding in computer science alongside targeted expertise in cybersecurity and digital forensics. The combination of theory, practical application, and professional preparation positions graduates for a wide range of careers in the technology sector, including roles such as digital forensic analyst, cybersecurity specialist, and software engineer. The course's strong emphasis on current industry practices and legal and ethical considerations ensures that graduates are both technically proficient and professionally responsible.
