COURSE CURRICULUM

This Computer Science program is designed to equip students with a thorough understanding of computing concepts, programming paradigms, mathematical foundations, and professional practices required for careers in software development, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. In the first year, students develop core competencies through modules like Paradigms of Programming, Algorithms and Data Structures, and Principles of Software Engineering. Students also gain exposure to computer architecture, formal language theory, and compiler design through modules such as Introduction to Compilers and Computer and Communication Systems. Mathematical proficiency is established through Mathematics for Computer Science and its follow-up, Advanced Mathematics for Computer Science, covering topics necessary for further studies in data analysis and algorithms.In the second year, the focus shifts to deeper technical and theoretical learning. Students explore advanced programming practices, operating system architecture, and secure software development through modules like Advanced Programming, Operating Systems, and Information Security. The curriculum introduces Artificial Intelligence and strengthens problem-solving skills with Advanced Algorithms and Computational Methods. Students choose from specialist options such as Computer Forensics, Statistical Techniques with R, and Operational Research, allowing them to tailor their learning towards security, data science, or applied mathematics.By the final year, students are prepared to engage in professional-level work and independent research. The 60-credit Final Year Project provides a platform for applying accumulated knowledge to design, build, and evaluate a software system. Students deepen their understanding of Human-Computer Interaction and Java Virtual Machine programming. Elective modules offer further specialization in areas such as Penetration Testing, Natural Computing, Big Data, Machine Learning, and Cryptography. Overall, the program provides a balanced mix of theoretical grounding and hands-on experience, preparing graduates for a wide range of roles in industry and academia.
