COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business degree is structured to develop students' understanding of global business environments, management practices, and cross-cultural communication, while also offering the opportunity to learn a foreign language. In Year 1, students take six compulsory 15-credit modules: Personal and Professional Development, International Business Functions, International Business Environment, Fundamentals of International Business Analytics, Introduction to Finance for Business, and Principles of Marketing in a Global Context. These modules aim to build foundational knowledge in core business areas while enhancing academic, analytical, and teamwork skills. Students also choose one 30-credit language module from Mandarin, French, Italian, or Spanish at levels 1, 2, or 3 depending on prior experience. In Year 2, students complete seven compulsory modules: Cross-cultural Management, Business Ethics, Managing Global Business Networks, Operating in Emerging Markets, Future Paths, Consultancy in Practice, and Business Statistics. These modules explore global organisational challenges, statistical tools, and professional development, with practical training in business consultancy. Additionally, students choose a 30-credit language module from the next level in their chosen language, with progression options up to level 4. In the final year, students undertake a 30-credit Final Year Consultancy Project, applying their cumulative knowledge to solve real-world business problems. They also complete three other compulsory modules: International Management and Organisational Functions, Internationalisation, Technology & Governments, and Big Data and Business Analytics, which deepen their understanding of global business strategy, innovation, and digital transformation. For the optional 30 credits, students may choose either a continuation of their language studies (Mandarin 3, French 3 or 4, Italian 3, Spanish 3 or 4) or a Language Research Project in French, Italian, or Spanish, enabling them to develop advanced linguistic proficiency and research skills. Throughout the degree, the curriculum integrates academic theory, practical skills, and international perspectives to prepare students for careers in global business environments.
