COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Research Methods in Psychology at Essex provides a comprehensive and rigorous program designed to equip students with advanced research skills and theoretical knowledge necessary for careers in psychological research or further doctoral study. Central to the course is the Research Project, which allows students to design, conduct, and analyse a substantial research study, providing hands-on experience in applying research methods. Students develop strong quantitative and qualitative skills through modules such as Fundamental Statistics for Research and Advanced Statistics for Research, ensuring they are proficient in data analysis and interpretation. Research Management and Research Experience modules equip students with practical skills in planning, executing, and overseeing research projects, while the Interviewing and Qualitative Data Analysis module enhances expertise in handling qualitative data and conducting in-depth analyses. In addition to these core modules, students have the flexibility to choose optional modules, allowing them to tailor their studies to specific interests and career goals.
