COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Marine Science and Sustainable Development program offers a comprehensive combination of practical and academic training designed to prepare students for careers in marine science, conservation, and sustainable development. Central to the course is a 60-credit marine science work placement, which provides hands-on experience in real-world settings and allows students to apply their knowledge to practical challenges in the marine environment. The program also includes advanced research skills training to support rigorous scientific inquiry, as well as compulsory modules in marine resources, methods in marine biology, postgraduate professional skills, and data analysis and visualisation. These modules provide essential technical expertise and develop students’ ability to handle, analyse, and interpret complex environmental data. In addition to these core modules, students can select optional modules to tailor their learning to specific areas of interest, allowing for deeper exploration of topics such as marine policy, ecosystem management, or emerging technologies in marine research.
