COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Financial Economics is structured to provide students with a rigorous blend of economic theory, quantitative skills, and applied financial knowledge. At its core is the 40-credit dissertation, which allows students to conduct independent research on a financial economics topic of their choice, applying the analytical and empirical tools developed throughout the program. Core compulsory modules include Econometric Methods and Mathematical Methods, each worth 20 credits, which build the quantitative foundation necessary for advanced financial analysis and research. The Economics of Financial Markets, also a compulsory 20-credit module, focuses on understanding how financial markets operate, exploring risk, return, asset pricing, and the decision-making of investors and firms. The course also offers flexibility through two optional components, each worth 40 credits, drawn from a departmental list. These options allow students to tailor the degree towards specific interests or career goals, such as applied econometrics, macroeconomics, or corporate finance.
