COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Behavioural and Experimental Economics is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of decision-making processes, market behaviour, and experimental methods. The program combines theoretical foundations with applied skills, beginning with compulsory modules such as Behavioural Economics I: Individual Decision Making and Behavioural Economics II: Games and Markets, which explore how psychological and cognitive factors shape individual choices and strategic interactions in markets. Experimental Economics further develops practical skills by training students to design and conduct experiments, offering hands-on experience in applying theory to real-world contexts. Flexibility is built into the structure through compulsory-with-options modules, including choices between EC903-7-AU or EC402-7-AU, and an additional 40 credits from a list of approved modules, allowing students to tailor their learning to particular areas of interest. A further optional module provides an additional 20 credits of customisation. The program culminates in a 40-credit dissertation, where students undertake independent research on a behavioural or experimental economics topic of their choice, demonstrating their ability to apply the methods and concepts acquired throughout the course. Together, these components offer a rigorous yet adaptable framework, equipping graduates with analytical, empirical, and research skills relevant for advanced study or careers in academia, business, and policy.
