COURSE CURRICULUM

The MRes Finance program provides an advanced research-focused pathway for students aiming to develop expertise in finance and pursue careers in academia or specialized industry roles. Central to the program is the dissertation in finance, which allows students to undertake an extensive, independent research project, developing critical skills in formulating research questions, designing methodology, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting findings coherently. The curriculum includes core modules in asset pricing, portfolio management, and risk management, equipping students with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to evaluate investment strategies, measure financial risk, and optimize asset allocation. Additional modules in financial time series methods and data analysis of cross-sectional, panel, and qualitative data provide essential quantitative and analytical skills for examining complex financial data. Students also have the option to select advanced modules such as BE351-7-SP or BE953-7-AU to tailor their studies according to specific research interests or industry needs. The program integrates hands-on experience with postgraduate-level mathematics preparation, ensuring students can confidently apply sophisticated mathematical and statistical techniques.
