COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Theatre Directing at East 15 Acting School is structured to provide both core training and flexibility for students to tailor their learning according to their artistic interests and career goals. At the heart of the program is a 60-credit core-with-options module, either EA444 or EA445, which serves as the main focus of study, allowing students to consolidate their skills in directing, research, and professional practice. Beyond this, the course offers multiple optional modules, each worth 30 credits, giving students the opportunity to explore specialized areas of theatre directing and production. These options enable students to engage with a range of practices such as Shakespeare, Contemporary British Drama, Physical Theatre, Musical Theatre, Opera, and international approaches to performance, including overseas modules in countries like Poland and Bali. Through these modules, students can work closely with actors, designers, playwrights, and technicians, enhancing collaborative skills and building professional networks. The program is designed to develop versatile, confident directors capable of leading productions across diverse genres and contexts. By combining intensive core training with a flexible menu of options, the course ensures that graduates leave with the technical expertise, creative insight, and practical experience required to pursue professional careers in theatre directing both in the UK and internationally.
