COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Politics at Essex provides a flexible and comprehensive program designed to equip students with advanced knowledge of political systems, ideas, and institutions, as well as the research and analytical skills required for professional and academic success. Students engage with core components such as Research Design, which develops their ability to formulate, plan, and execute rigorous research projects. The program also includes a Dissertation Preparation module, offering guidance and support to successfully complete the final research project. A substantial portion of the degree is devoted to optional modules, allowing students to tailor their learning to specific interests within political science, including government, public policy, international relations, and comparative politics. Students can select from a wide range of government and politics options, ensuring that their studies are aligned with personal career goals and intellectual curiosities. Core with options modules such as GV993-7-AU or GV985-7-AU provide foundational learning in advanced political concepts and practices while maintaining flexibility to specialize.
