COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Political Psychology program is structured to provide students with both a strong foundation in the field and the flexibility to tailor their studies to individual interests. At its core, the course includes a major component through either GV993-7-PS or GV985-7-PS, worth 60 credits, ensuring an in-depth exploration of key concepts and debates. The Political Psychology module, worth 15 credits, introduces central themes such as identity, polarization, radicalization, and the psychological underpinnings of political decision-making. Research Design, another compulsory element, develops essential methodological skills for conducting independent research in political science. Students also engage with a range of optional modules, selecting from approved lists to accumulate 30 credits of compulsory options and up to 60 credits of further government options. This structure allows for significant customization, enabling students to explore areas such as comparative politics, international relations, or political theory alongside their focus on psychology. A Dissertation Preparation module supports students in planning and refining their independent research project, which forms a central part of the degree. Together, these components ensure students graduate with advanced analytical, methodological, and subject-specific expertise, preparing them for careers in research, policy, political consultancy, or further doctoral-level study.
