COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Power, Conflict, and Resistance program is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of the historical and contemporary dynamics of power and its influence on societies. Central to the course is the dissertation, which allows students to conduct in-depth independent research and develop critical, analytical, and methodological skills. Core modules include History, Power, and Identity, which examines how power has shaped social structures, relationships, and identities across different historical and cultural contexts, exploring the intersections of race, gender, class, sexuality, and other social categories. Another compulsory module, Making History, Sharing History: Sources, Methods, and Audiences for Historical Research, equips students with the practical tools and theoretical frameworks to engage critically with historical sources, construct arguments, and communicate findings effectively to varied audiences. Optional modules offer flexibility to tailor the degree according to personal interests, enabling students to explore specific aspects of power, conflict, resistance, and historical inquiry in greater depth.
