COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Sports Therapy course provides a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to succeed as professional sports therapists. In the first year, students build a solid foundation with modules in professional skills and development, fundamentals of human movement, sport and exercise psychology, introduction to sports therapy, principles of nutrition and metabolism, and anatomy and physiology for sport. These modules establish the essential understanding of human movement, physical performance, and the physiological and psychological factors that underpin effective sports therapy practice. In the second year, students develop applied skills through core modules including evaluation of sports and exercise injuries, injury management and rehabilitation, and manual therapy, complemented by research methods in sport and exercise and strength and conditioning. These modules provide students with the ability to assess, treat, and rehabilitate injuries while applying scientific principles to enhance recovery and performance. The final year focuses on advanced practice, allowing students to complete a research project, study advanced sports therapy techniques, and understand strategies for safe return to sport. The program also includes an extensive sports therapy placement, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in real-world settings. Optional modules allow further specialisation and personalisation of learning, ensuring graduates are prepared for diverse professional environments in sports therapy.
