COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Sports Performance and Coaching course provides a structured pathway that combines theoretical knowledge with applied practice to prepare students for careers in coaching, performance analysis, and sports development. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through compulsory modules such as Professional Skills and Development, Fundamentals of Human Movement, Principles of Nutrition and Metabolism, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Anatomy and Physiology for Sport. They also gain an introduction to coaching and performance analysis, which sets the stage for applied learning. The second year develops these skills further with modules in Research Methods, Applied Performance Analysis, Applied Pedagogical Principles of Sports Coaching, and Strength and Conditioning, ensuring students understand both the science and the pedagogy behind effective coaching. Professional skills continue to be developed, and optional modules allow for specialisation according to personal interests and career goals. In the final year, students undertake an in-depth Research Project to demonstrate their ability to conduct independent study and apply their knowledge to real-world issues in sport. This is complemented by further optional modules, alongside advanced study in either applied performance or specialist coaching topics. The course equips graduates with both academic expertise and practical coaching competence, preparing them for dynamic roles in sport.
