COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Mathematics with Physics course provides a structured progression from core foundations to advanced topics, combining mathematical theory with key areas of physics. In the first year, students develop essential skills through modules such as Calculus, Statistics I, Matrices and Complex Numbers, Discrete Mathematics, and Mathematical and Computational Modelling, alongside physics-focused study in Mechanics and Relativity and Foundations of Electronics I. Employability is supported from the outset with a careers module. The second year builds on this foundation with deeper mathematical training in Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, Statistics II, Vector Calculus, and Ordinary Differential Equations, while Analytical Mechanics provides a strong link to physics applications. Students also choose optional modules, allowing them to begin shaping the degree to their interests, alongside further career preparation. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced and specialised study, with compulsory modules such as Complex Variables and Quantum Mechanics, alongside further mathematical options that allow students to explore areas of interest in depth. A range of optional modules provides flexibility to tailor the course towards pure mathematics, applied mathematics, or physics-related areas. This combination ensures graduates gain strong analytical, problem-solving, and computational skills, preparing them for diverse careers in science, technology, industry, or research.
