COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Global Sustainability degree offers students a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education focused on addressing the pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges facing the planet. In the first year, students build a foundational understanding of global sustainability issues, alongside essential scientific knowledge such as genetics, evolution, and quantitative methods for life sciences, while developing transferable skills for scientific research and analysis. Students also have the opportunity to select optional modules to tailor their learning to specific interests. The second year emphasizes practical and professional skills for ecological and marine science, as well as advanced study of global sustainability challenges. Optional modules allow students to deepen their expertise in areas such as biodiversity, renewable energy, conservation, or sustainable resource management, providing flexibility to explore individual interests and career pathways. In the final year, students undertake an independent research project, allowing them to apply their knowledge to real-world sustainability problems and develop critical analytical and problem-solving skills. Core modules in climate change, pollution, and environmental management ensure graduates are well-prepared to understand and respond to the complex interactions that affect ecosystems and human societies. By integrating science, policy, and practical experience, this program equips students with the skills and knowledge to pursue careers in environmental management, policy, consultancy, research, or further postgraduate study, enabling them to contribute effectively to global sustainability efforts.
