COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Genetics course provides a comprehensive exploration of the principles and applications of genetics, covering molecular, cellular, and genomic aspects of life sciences. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with core modules including quantitative methods, molecular cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry of macromolecules, genetics and evolution, and general and organic chemistry. Additional modules allow flexibility in studying complementary subjects, while transferable skills are developed to support academic and professional growth. In the second year, the curriculum deepens understanding of molecular biology, cell biology, genome science, computational data analysis using R, and medical genetics, preparing students to apply genetic knowledge in real-world contexts such as disease understanding and biotechnology. Optional modules allow for specialization in areas aligned with students’ interests. The third year emphasizes research and practical application, with a major research project providing hands-on experience in experimental design, data collection, and analysis. Students further study human molecular genetics and genome bioinformatics, developing technical skills in analyzing genomic data and interpreting complex biological systems. Optional modules allow for continued exploration of specialized topics. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped with a solid theoretical understanding and practical expertise, enabling them to pursue careers in genetics, genomics, biotechnology, biomedical research, or further advanced study.
