COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Economics with Data Science degree is structured over three years, combining core, compulsory, and optional modules to provide a comprehensive education in economics and computational analysis. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as introduction to economics, introduction to programming, introduction to databases, introduction to quantitative economics, and methods of economic analysis, along with a zero-credit career skills module. These courses establish a strong grounding in both economic theory and basic computing skills, enabling students to apply quantitative methods to economic problems. The second year focuses on intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, mathematical methods in economics, introduction to econometric methods, databases and information retrieval, and introduction to data science, alongside continued career skills development. This year deepens analytical abilities and introduces more advanced computational techniques for economic analysis. In the final year, students undertake modules that allow for specialization, including options such as advanced economics, computer science modules, and additional electives, along with information retrieval and career skills training. Students apply their cumulative knowledge to practical and research-based projects, developing expertise in data-driven economic analysis. Overall, the program integrates theoretical understanding, computational proficiency, and practical experience, preparing graduates for careers in economics, finance, policy, and data science, or for further academic study.
