COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Data Science program is structured over three years, combining core and compulsory modules with optional components to provide a comprehensive foundation in mathematics, statistics, and computing. In the first year, students complete seven core and compulsory modules, including calculus, statistics, introduction to programming, object-oriented programming, databases, discrete mathematics, and a team project challenge. These modules establish essential skills in quantitative analysis, programming, and collaborative problem-solving. The second year builds on this foundation with nine compulsory modules covering advanced topics such as data structures and algorithms, introduction to artificial intelligence, databases and information retrieval, optimization through linear programming, matrices and complex numbers, statistics II, and a team project challenge, along with a compulsory module offering optional study for specialization. A zero-credit mathematics careers and employability module helps prepare students for professional development. In the final year, students undertake a 30-credit capstone project to apply their accumulated knowledge to real-world problems. Additional modules include linear regression analysis, applied statistics, information retrieval, stochastic processes, and a 30-credit optional module, alongside continued careers and employability support. Overall, the program integrates theoretical understanding, practical skills, and applied experience, preparing graduates for careers in data science, analytics, and related fields, or for further academic study in mathematics and computational disciplines.
