COURSE CURRICULUM

The degree program is structured over three years, combining core modules with optional components to provide a balanced and comprehensive education in game design and development. In the first year, students complete eight core modules, each worth 15 credits, delivered across both autumn and spring terms. These modules establish the foundational knowledge and skills needed in areas such as storytelling, character development, game mechanics, and basic programming, ensuring students gain a strong grounding in both creative and technical aspects of game-making. The second year builds on this foundation with seven core modules of 15 credits each and an additional core-with-options module, allowing students to explore specialized topics or areas of interest while continuing to develop their technical expertise and creative abilities. The focus expands to include more advanced programming, artificial intelligence behaviors, and interactive game design principles. In the final year, students undertake a substantial 45-credit core module likely representing a capstone or major project, alongside two additional 15-credit core modules and a 45-credit core-with-options module. This structure enables students to undertake significant independent or guided projects, applying their accumulated knowledge and skills to produce complex, fully-realized games.
