COURSE CURRICULUM

The Linguistics with Data Science course provides a strong foundation in both the study of language and computational methods. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of the human speech system, words and sentence structures, and the study of language while also gaining technical skills through modules in programming and language and computing. Optional modules allow further exploration of linguistics or languages, while career skills development is embedded throughout. The second year expands on these foundations with a focus on multilingualism, databases, and data processing using SQL, as well as statistical modelling of experimental and observational data. Students also have the flexibility to choose from a range of linguistics and language options to tailor the course to their interests. In the final year, the program emphasizes independent research and advanced application, with a compulsory project in either linguistics or a related area, alongside training in data visualization and artificial intelligence with machine learning applications. A wide selection of optional linguistics modules allows students to further specialize in areas of their choice. Throughout the degree, employability skills are consistently developed, ensuring graduates are prepared for diverse careers where both linguistic expertise and data science skills are valued.
