COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Business and Human Resource Management program at Essex Business School is a three-year course designed to develop both business acumen and specialised HR expertise. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through core modules in management, marketing, accounting, finance, organisational management, and professional development, alongside a module exploring values and organisational understanding. This foundation prepares students for more advanced study in the second year, where they focus on management accounting, organisational behaviour, business strategy, human resource management fundamentals, operations and supply chain management, and leadership, while also completing research methods and selected optional modules to tailor their learning. The third year emphasises the strategic and practical application of HR knowledge through core modules in critical issues in human resource management, strategic human resource management, business ethics, digital HR and people analytics, and equality and difference at work. Optional modules provide flexibility for students to explore additional areas of interest. Across all three years, the program integrates theoretical learning with practical skills, including analysis, communication, and leadership, preparing students to manage human resources effectively, ethically, and strategically. Graduates leave with the ability to navigate complex organisational challenges, implement HR strategies, and contribute meaningfully to business success while fostering inclusive and productive workplaces.
