COURSE CURRICULUM

This degree combines sociology and psychosocial studies, offering students a deep understanding of how individuals and groups function within society while examining psychological and social dynamics together. In the first year, core modules introduce students to the sociological and psychosocial imagination, encouraging them to think critically about social life and human behaviour. Students also develop essential research skills and academic foundations, with the flexibility to choose optional modules tailored to their interests. The second year builds on this foundation with a focus on power and agency in a global context, alongside specialised modules in social psychology, crowd behaviour, and forensic psychology, which explore the dynamics of self, social norms, and behaviour. Training in sociological research methods equips students with practical tools to investigate complex social questions, while optional modules allow them to pursue areas of personal interest. In the final year, students tackle advanced subjects such as rethinking modernity, psychiatry and mental illness, and the age of trauma, providing insight into both social change and individual experiences of mental health and trauma. A capstone project offers the opportunity to conduct in-depth independent research, while the course as a whole develops critical, analytical, and applied skills relevant to a wide range of careers.
