COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Politics course at Essex University provides a comprehensive and structured program designed to develop a deep understanding of political systems, international relations, and ethical considerations in governance. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with core modules such as Introduction to Politics, Introduction to International Relations, and Authority and Morality, while also having the flexibility to explore additional social science or optional modules and begin developing a Career Portfolio. The second year expands on this foundation, offering compulsory modules with options to explore specific areas of politics alongside a broader selection of second-year politics or outside options, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests while continuing to enhance their career development skills. In the third year, students consolidate their learning through a Capstone Project, applying the knowledge and analytical skills gained throughout the course to a significant independent research project, while also selecting final-year options to deepen their expertise in chosen areas of political science.
