COURSE CURRICULUM

This course offers a structured journey into the study of media, culture, and society, providing students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to critically engage with the role of media in shaping everyday life. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Media, Culture and Society, The Sociological Imagination, and Researching Social Life, alongside skills-based components like Practical Podcasting and Unlocking Your Academic Potential, with the chance to choose from additional options. The second year deepens understanding through core modules like Mass Media and Modern Life and Creative Media, while offering flexibility through optional modules that allow students to tailor their studies to personal interests. Career Development and Making a Difference is embedded across the course to prepare students for the workplace. In the final year, the focus shifts to more advanced study with compulsory modules such as The Current Issues in Social Science and Digital Society, while a wide range of optional modules provides opportunities to specialize further in areas of media, sociology, or related disciplines. Combining theory, research training, and creative practice, the program equips students with critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills that are highly valued in a range of careers.
