COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Journalism and Politics course combines the study of political science with practical journalism, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary political issues and the skills to communicate them effectively. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge in politics and journalism through core modules such as Essential Journalism, Introduction to Politics, The Journalistic Imagination, and Practical Podcasting, alongside opportunities to explore additional government-focused options. The course emphasizes developing journalistic skills in research, storytelling, and multimedia production while fostering critical thinking about political systems, ethics, and public policy. In the second year, students deepen their expertise with modules on Audio and Video for Broadcast and Online, Feature Writing and Magazine Journalism, Principles of Social Justice, and Ethics and Public Policy, alongside optional subjects that allow for specialization. Practical journalism skills are further reinforced with hands-on experience in multimedia production, preparing students for real-world media environments. In the third year, students consolidate their learning through Advanced Practical Journalism and Comparative Media Law and Regulation, complemented by optional modules that enable them to tailor their studies to individual interests. Across the program, students develop analytical, ethical, and technical abilities, culminating in a well-rounded preparation for careers in journalism, political communication, media analysis, and other roles that require critical thinking and effective communication in a global context.
